Description Technical Specs

Remember the old metal canteen? Well it’s been re-imagined for the new century. Sometimes you challenge yourself; other times you’re challenged by the elements. In either case, you need the new Nalgene Oasis. Large enough to pack a serious hydrating punch while staying portable. It’s made from durable Eastman Tritan with a Leakproof threaded cap. As tough as it is stylish, it’s the coolest canteen in camp.

Hope they hit big July 3, 2015
Reviewer: Tony D from Savannah, GA United States
The official description is a little misleading, as it discusses old metal canteens; nalgene used to make a WW2-style canteen, so i thought maybe this was that product.  This canteen is of the current USGI design (which has always been made of plastic,TTBOMK).

The canteen will fit current canteen cups and canteen covers.  I have not yet tried USGI canteen caps yet, which would be necessary to make it mask-compatible.

This product is an improvement over USGI canteens:
-it is clear, so you can see if it is clean
-it is clear so you can inspect troops' water levels
-it is clear so you can what liquid is in it
-frosted texture makes it nonreflective
-BPA free
-Made in the USA
-feels lighter than a USGI canteen

Recommended improvrments: graduated measuring lines molded into the plastic, and offered with a USGI canteen cap- so Nalgene could put a NSN on it and sell a million to the troops.  I am sending a few to my active duty buddies right now, and i hope they like them.

Great Bottle! July 26, 2013
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from Grand Rapids, MI United States
I purchased an Oasis for snowboarding.  For years and years I'd always worn a backpack, but didn't carry much in it besides water and some small essentials.  I've never cared for the pack bladder systems, so I'd always carried a cylindrical bottle in my pack, but it would make for uncomfortable crash landings at my lower back.
Now I carry an Oasis in one of my front chest pockets, and I no longer have the need for my pack!  The bottle fits nicely against the torso, yet holds enough liquid to make it worth carrying.  And based on the bottle's wall thickness, if I ever would land on it, the bottle would flex, unlike the 1 quart Nalgene bottles I used to use.  Love it!

Why I love the oasis... August 21, 2012
Reviewer: Christopher Chopin from West Palm Beach, FL United States
I favor surplus army gear, because its cheap, uniform, and easy to use.  But it is heavy as all get out.  Still, I have long used the plastic standard 1 quart army canteen.  The one that weighs about .3 pounds, compared to the .46 ounces of the Oasis.  What bugged me most about those canteens was I never felt like they were clean because I couldn't see inside them!  But I kept using them because you just can't beat the army canteen cup/stove set up, especially if you're already carrying esbit or trioxane tabs.

Nalgene has shaved the weight, made the bottle clearer, and it still fits inside a canteen cup perfectly, and I can still use my surplus canteen pouches!

The last new water bottles I purchased were the 32 ounce Nalgene Trail Products bottles with the wolf (mountain lion?) on a mountain logo.  I've had them 20 years, and I still use one every day.  But the Oasis is worth making that first purchase in 2 decades.  A fantastic product.

like it...but February 8, 2012
Reviewer: jennifer kruchen from el monte, CA United States
I love this product and would have given it 5 stars but I just thought of something that would improve it. Measuring lines would be really great since it's already geared towards outdoor enthusiasts. thanks!
